What do I need to bring with me?
For all disciplines, Jo recommends wearing clothing that you feel comfortable in. If you're going to wear leggings, stand with your back to the mirror, bend over as though you're going to touch your toes and look in the mirror at your bottom just to check that they're not see-through when you stretch.
It helps Jo if you wear colours other than black as she will have a clearer view of your skeletal alignment and therefore be able to give you quicker feedback. However if you feel most comfortable wearing black she won't complain she'll just simply come over to you more often to see what you're up to and may need to put her hands on you. If you are a Zoom client, be prepared for her to ask you more questions in order for you to assess your own alignment. For the same reason Jo prefers you to wear tighter clothes.
In Pilates most of Jo's clients exercise in bare feet or socks. Very occasionally Jo will come across a client that for some reason will need to keep their trainers on and that's okay she doesn't mind that at all.
For other non-impact classes Jo is happy for you to exercise in trainers or bare feet (or in socks if you are not at risk of slipping).
Whilst participating in WobbleFit you must either be barefoot or wear trainers. Exercising in just socks on the board is dangerous.
In Aerobics, Exercise to Music and Bums & Tums classes cross trainers or dance trainers must be worn. Exercising without wearing these will often cause knee and/or feet pain. No instructor should ever let you do exercises like this without the appropriate footwear.
Can I do Pilates when pregnant?
Nobody should start a completely new exercise regime when they become pregnant. If you were doing Pilates or exercise to music classes before you became pregnant you should be okay to continue and make adaptations as your pregnancy continues. If there are any complications or if you are expecting twins you should seek your doctor's advice before taking part. Remember participation is at your own risk.
The following Zoom classes have been designed with fully fit Pre and Postnatal attendees in mind:-
